In 2009, Balis produced the comic-thriller INFESTATION for Icon Entertainment, and directed STILL WAITING for Lionsgate Films. The film was a sequel to the 2005 cult-hit restaurant comedy WAITING starring Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, Dane Cook, and Justin Long. Waiting TV recently sold to Comedy Central as a half-hour pilot. In 2007, Balis produced the critical sensation KABLUEY starring Lisa Kudrow, which Regent and Sony released theatrically. Before that, Balis co-produced THE LAST TIME starring Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser for Sony.

In 2007, Balis co-founded VFX and title house Dilated Pixels, which creates award-winning visual effects for film, TV, and commercials.

As an onscreen part of the Emmy-nominated Project Greenlight HBO series that he helped develop, Balis produced the film THE BATTLE OF SHAKER HEIGHTS for Miramax starring Shia LaBeouf. Also for Miramax, Balis produced SPEAKEASY with David Strathairn and co-produced the first Project Greenlight film STOLEN SUMMER. Balis began his career working with Chris Moore, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Sean Bailey at the film and integrated-media company LivePlanet. Balis graduated from Harvard University majoring in film and hails from Tampa, FL.

Working at Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films, Rhoades found, packaged and developed such films as STARSKY AND HUTCH, TENACIOUS D, and TROPIC THUNDER. In 2005, Rader left Red Hour Films to team up with Jeff Balis under the Heavy Duty Entertainment banner. Since then, he has produced: critically-acclaimed KABLUEY staring Lisa Kudrow,  INFESTATION for Mel Gibson’s Icon Ent,  STILL WAITING for Lion’s Gate and recently completed producing the Mario Van Peebles directed BLACK, WHITE AND BLUES starring Michael Clarke Duncan, Tom Skerritt, Luke Perry, and Taryn Manning.  In 2007 he co-founded CGI effects house Dilated Pixels.  He loves puppies and is thinking about getting one soon.
